Stephanie Makes a Move to the ARDC

The Stevens Racing team purchased a used midget engine from a driver in Plainfield, IN.  Stephanie is planning on competing with the ARDC midgets for the remainder of this season and for all of next year, along with some USAC midget shows.  The car was ready to go for the September 2nd show at Susquehanna Speedway Park, but unfortunately the whole weekend was rained out.  This gave Stephanie a chance to practice in the car to get a feel of the difference in horsepower.  She is excited to be back on dirt, but welcomes the opportunity to race on asphalt again in the future.

USAC News

It seems as if there has been a dark cloud hanging over Stephanie and the team by the time the feature events roll around every race night.  The team is able to qualify well, but then a snake bites during the feature.  It’s time for a change!  The team’s entire Ford Focus pavement midget operation is up for sale. The team is planning on racing with the ARDC midget series for the 2007 season and is hoping to have a car together for the last four races of this year.  They are looking forward to getting back on the dirt and racing at local tracks.  Thank you to all their sponsors for supporting them in Focus series and for their continued support in the ARDC midget series.

Mid 2006 Update

Stephanie had been taking some time off from racing due to medical problems that surfaced as a result of her midget flip in Orlando, Fl during the December PRI event.  The rainy weather and limited racing schedule added to her time off.  Stephanie is feeling much better and would like to thank her family, friends, and racing community for their support and well wishes during her time off.  Stephanie and the team resumed racing action this past week with a very fast, well handling car, but unfortunately continue to have extremely bad luck.  Check out the results page for more info!

Show News Roundup :

Even though it’s the “off-season,” Stephanie has been busy with radio and car shows.
On March 3rd-5th she was up in Foxboro, MA at Racearama with her midget representing the USAC Northeast Ford Focus midget series. Her dad and Uncle Gary’s hard work of putting the brand new car together in a two week time span proved beneficial as the car won the “Best Appearing Open Wheel” award. Stephanie was able to spend time with fans and future drivers of the Ford Focus series. Also, while at Racearama, Stephanie was interviewed for Flat Out magazine.

The following weekend, Friday March 10th, Stephanie went to the Motorsports Expo at Syracuse, NY. With the help and support of Lacross Motorsports, Stephanie has the opportunity to race 4 or 5 Busch East races in the #47 car owned by Brent Cross. In Syracuse, she was able to see the newly painted car and spend time with the crew. She is looking forward to driving for Brent and the team, but is currently seeking sponsorship to fulfill this endeavor. If you or anyone you know is interested in being a marketing partner with Stephanie, please let her know!
The very next day, on Saturday, March 11th, Stephanie and her car were in attendance at the Ledgewood Mall car show in NJ. Again, Stephanie got to spend time with the fans. In addition to being interviewed on WRNJ Oldies the previous day, Stephanie was interviewed on WNNJ Classic Rock. Stephanie starts racing on April 15th at Southern National Speedway in NC. Until then, check out the picture page to see the new pavement car and the action from the car shows!

2006 Season Preview:
With the help of Spike chassis, Bilstein shocks and Keizer wheels, Stephanie’s team quickly put a brand new car together to debut in the 1st Annual PRI Sprint and Midget Classic in Orlando, Fl. Everyone was very pleased with the way the car handled. In her first day in it, Stephanie time trialed 5th, securing an outside pole starting position for the following night’s feature. Her heat race was very exciting, but unfortunately, as she was crossing the finish line, another car’s right front tire made contact with her left rear tire. This sent her for a wild ride of flipping and skidding on the pavement. After landing in turn one, Stephanie walked away from the accident, but later found out she had a concussion.
The “off-season” proves to be a much needed break for the team to get the car back together and for Stephanie to concentrate on her last semester of college. For the 2006 season, Stephanie plans on racing the Northeast Ford Focus midget series full time along with competing in the Midwest, Carolina, or newly formed Mid-Atlantic Ford Focus midget series when her schedule allows. She is also exploring options of competing in other divisions if opportunities and sponsorship allows. Stay tuned!

2005 Season Wrap-up:
Last weekend marked the end of the 2005 points season for the Northeast Ford Focus midget series. Thank you to all sponsors, family, and friends for your support and for being part of the team. We had a great rookie season, as I became the first female to win the Earl’s Fast Qualifying Championship and I placed 4th in the overall Northeast points standings. I also set an unofficial track record time at Anderson Speedway, IN during our Nationals. Out of 20 entered feature races, I had 7 top-5’s and 15 top-10 finishes. I had six heat race wins, but I am still looking for that big feature win!

On Friday, October 14th in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, IRCO Federal Credit Union is having their 14th Member Appreciation Day. Flyers were sent out to13,000 of their customers announcing the event and how I will be there with the car signing autographs from 2:30-5:30pm. Please check out the attached flyer and if you are in the area, feel free to stop by! Between radio interviews, press at the races, and this appearance, there have been and will be great opportunities for sponsor exposure. Fans do take notice of the logos on the midget, as many times they ask me questions about them. So, word is getting out!
Dad and Uncle Gary will remain busy during the “off season” (What is that?!) as they are preparing a brand new all asphalt chassis that will debut December 1 & 2 in Orlando, Florida as part of the Performance Racing Industry show. We will be keeping this combo car that we have now so that (1) my brother can have seat time and (2) so that we can use it for dirt shows. Next year we will be busy competing in both the Northeast and the newly formed Mid-Atlantic USAC Ford Focus divisions.
